Makeshift Christmas Tree

Since most of our holiday celebration will take place not at our house we decided to forgo putting up our glorious 6 foot white Christmas tree that i found on the side of the road, and just make do with this tiny tree made of things i had around the house (newspaper, lots of masking tape, lace edging from two old tablecloths, buttons, beads, yarn, a piece of a pillow case, pins, the trim from a bed sheet, scrap wood, and a bit of a bamboo stake from the garden). I think it turned out quite festive.

Buttergator

So for thanksgiving I made a buttergator. Inspired by the turkey butter my mama told me about, i wanted to make a festive shaped butter, but i could only find an alligator mold, leftover from the fudge-a-gator i got in florida. It was not quite as festive as a turkey, but it was fun and only a little scary having a gator on the thanksgiving table.
